I know I am a couple days late, but I would like to congratulate Jamaica's under 17 team for qualifying for the under 17 World Cup in Mexico. Jamaica brushed aside Honduras 2-1 in qualifying for the World Cup.
While writing this article Jamaica was playing the US in the semi-finals of the qualifiers. Unfortunately, Jamaica was down 2-0 with 3 minutes to go.
With that said, we shall see Jamaica in the under-17 World Cup in Mexico in a couple months and it will be a great feeling. Once again sports continues to lift Jamaica from the negativity that exist on a day to day basis.

The poets pen shall not be fall,
until his words are revealed,
it shall not be hidden in the bushes,
where creatures crawl,
His words shall be painted in blood,
for the freedom of the hopeless,
his flag shall be raised in victory,
The poets bravery shall live on,
even when his works are burnt,
his thoughts will be seared unto the minds of the weak,
When history hides the truth,
the poet shall rise up,
to reveal the mystery of the universe,
If the poet be exiled,
he shall not be worried,
even when the bars surround him,
because God will free him,
He shall not be influenced by the world,
when inspiration lifts him,
he shall brace against rejection,
and break the shackles around him...

With the love of God,
life gets better everyday,
the flowers smell better,
the sunshine beams brighter,
With the love of God,
problems disappear,
blessings appear with each smile,
tears are left in the pillow,
With the love of God,
the hopeless is forgotten,
hope is renewed,
sad words are forgiven,
With the love of God,
the gift of a new day is given,
each breath is treasured,
each stride is lengthened,
With the love of God,
his Son delivered us from sin,
giving us a chance to serve him,
ensuring salvation for our souls,
With the love of God,
my words can make a difference,
his inspiration can live on,
oh what glory,
oh what pleasure,
it is to be in his presence..

On my mind in a day, month, year..... To a dear friend in distress...
Author: Daynes Journey Posted under:
Though you've been battered and bruised,
be encouraged my friend,
you've lost your job,
and your mortgage payments are late,
be encouraged my friend,
Though you've cried your eyes out and all seems amiss,
be encouraged my friend,
you think that life is over,
and living is a chore,
be encouraged my friend,
Though your friends have deserted you,
and you talk to yourself,
be encouraged my friend,
Though hunger and poverty stare at you,
and your throat is dry with thirst,
don't give my friend,
Though you think you been through hell,
be encouraged my friend,
there is hope,
Though you've tried everything you know,
be encouraged my friend,
there's one important decision you didn't make,
you never took your burdens to the heavens,
you forgot where your strength lies,
It's not too late my friend,
your last breath has not expired,
there's still a chance to turn your life over to him,
though your tears be as crimson he'll wash away your sins,
But there are choices you must make,
forget about the things of this world,
you must hear his Word,
believe in it,
confess that he is the Son of man,
repent of all your sins,
be buried with him in baptism,
emerge a new creature,
follow his commands,
Though the troubles you face won't instantly disappear,
be encouraged my friend,
you can now fall on your knees in prayers,
he'll answer you,
Be encouraged,
knowing that you no longer have to talk to yourself,
he'll hear you always,
your tears will rest on his shoulder,
your fears will be carried away by his love,
and eternity will be at your doorstep.

By what authority do we do or say these things?
Our authority can be either form God or human traditions. Jesus warned his people about the dangers of following human traditions and rejecting what is written in the scriptures. Mk 7:6-8, "He answered and said unto them, Well hath Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoreth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do."
1. Do we sing and tell people that Jesus was born on December 25
a. God in his wisdom gave us information in the scriptures on the: place of his birth and parents but not his date of birth.
b. The Apostles, parents of Jesus, early church and Church Fathers neither celebrated nor mentioned December 25 as the birth date of Jesus.
c. Christmas was started as a tradition by the Roman Catholic Church, as a MASS for Christ.
2. Do we teach our children that Santa gives them gifts
a. God has warned us about willfully telling lies Pro 6:16-19, "These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren."
3. Do we teach and sing about "Three wise men" ,they who traveled far.
a. The bible tells us of "Wise men" Mt 2;1, 7, 16
b. They gave three kinds of gifts Mt 2:11, "And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshiped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh."
4. Decorate "Christmas trees" in the honour and name of Jesus
a. Would Jesus approve such a practice?
b. The decorating of trees was considered a heathen practice and condemned by God
Lev 18:1-5, 20:22-24, Jer 10:1-4, "Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not."
5. The things Jesus has authorized to help us to remember him
a. To come to know him as Lord John 17:1-3, "These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."
b. Baptism to share in his death burial and resurrection Rom 6:3-5, "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:"
c. The Lord's Supper (Communion) every Sunday 1 Cor 11:23-33,"For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
Acts 20:7, " And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight."
It seems clear from God's word, that the celebration of Christmas is not of him but of man. God has authorized no celebration of his birth. He has authorised the celebration of his death, burial and resurrection, when Christians partake of his Supper every week. We are commanded to love each other daily, and to give freely and with an open heart, not to receive, as the scriptures teach in Acts 20: 35, "I have showed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Let us all seek to love each other each and every single day.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Psalm 46:2
Over the years I have sought to be what other thought I should be. At one point I felt as though I was a slave to mankind. I would sit before the mirror and wonder who I am and what is my purpose. It has not been easy to 'change', to step away from the expectations of everyone and to become and be my true potential.
I can remember being involved in companies and in the midst of friends because I wanted to please someone. Never did I say to myself, what do you want Dayne?
It is never easy to change who you are. Once you get trapped into doing what others expect, you are sucked into their thinking and their life. The day when I found Jesus Christ signified a new day in my life. People around me would always ridicule me and say, 'why are you going to church? why are you going to that church? why? why? why?
The beauty of my change towards pleasing God was one of the best steps I ever made in my life. You see when I discovered Christ and the Holy Spirit, the thoughts and things of man became secondary to me. I have always had a high esteem in my myself, but God taught me that to love others I would be a better person. I learnt that there is more to life that pleasing man. I discovered that when God shifts your mind, he shifts your heart.
I realized from his word that I would have to transform my heart and mind. Let us look at what Romans 12:2 has to say, "and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." When I changed from evil to good, I had to change my whole way of thinking. I recognized that I had to give up the thinking of my family and friends, and focus on pleasing God in all things.
At times I was criticized because of my change of heart. Friends and family would say to me that I am a fanatic because I didn't share their views, but even though it hurt real bad to hear their words, I stuck it out with God holding me up. Things have not been easy since I changed my ways, the world has not changed. I am constantly bombarded by negatives when I seek to lead a righteous life. Whoever said that being a Christian was easy, has never walked a day in my shoes. Now I am not talking about those who only talk the talk, but I am talking to those who actually walk it.
But do not be afraid to change what you are doing and who you are now. A walk with God is a walk into eternity. Without God eternity will never be in view. But bear in mind that it will not be easy, but he will hold your hand daily.
When tomorrow comes,
I shall walk into the mist,
not knowing when I will be called home,
When the sun rays arise,
it shall beat on my back,
like drums along the Nile,
When tomorrow comes,
my words shall live on,
but my memories,
will be trapped in the grave,
When tomorrow comes,
tears shall not stream from my eyes,
courage will lift me up,
like an angel in heaven,
God shall shower me with his love,
When tomorrow comes,
I will be happy for my friends,
because they have been there for me,
even when their advice tore my heart,
When tomorrow comes,
God will be in sight,
my prayers shall not fall into the wind,
to be carried away with sorrow,
When tomorrow comes,
I shall not fear man,
as God will heal my soul...

After unfaithfulness and a poor year in 2010, Tiger Woods is roaring back into contention for the number one spot. He is one shot behind Rory Mcllroy in the Dubai Desert Classic going into the final day.
Tiger seems to be silencing his critics with his play on the golf course. He has made terrible mistakes in his life, but he seems to be putting his life back together. Let us not forget that he is one of the greatest golf player's of all time. Unlike the average man his life is always in the spotlight and thus he has to set an example. But all of us have fallen short at some time in our life, its just that we are not popular so it will never make the headlines.
Good luck Tiger, I am rooting for you...
Last week was a mega week for penny stocks. My focus was on the Potash stocks last week.
Two penny stocks that are related to Potash was under my radar. The two stocks were: PPI and AAA Potash. There were opportunities to buy and sell these stocks. Near the end of the week these stocks fell by more than 20%. They both reached a record high and bounced off the respective resistance levels. The coming week should be another interesting time for these two stocks.
President Hosni Mubarak has stepped down from his position in Egypt due to the protests of the people. Like a hunted fox he has ran away in exile to another part of Egypt with his tail between his legs. Does this mean other countries will be inspired to pressure other dictators out of power?
In my humble opinion, what happened in Egypt was as a result of events in Tunisia. In that country the people also stood up against dictatorship. This indicates that if the people are united effective change can occur. Therefore the events in Egypt may trigger other people to protests against dictatorships. We may even find that countries that are 'so called democratic states' will also be under the spotlight.
Whenever people feel that their rights have been trampled, the events in Egypt will eventually be a reality. The protests in Egypt were for the most part peaceful, but there was loss of life. It is typical in cases where the people rise up that there will be human casualty. This is the price that many a hero had to pay for the prize of the freedom that different people enjoy today. Do not believe for a second that freedom is without a price.
Many have been indicating that maybe countries like Jamaica, Saudi Arabia and China should follow suit, but the fact is that it is not an easy road. How many people are willing to be non-violent in their approach to freedom of rights and justice. In Jamaica, during a full scale hurricane people were looting stores. Even in a gas strike, people used that opportunity to loot. You see for things to change everyone has to buy into the fact that their rights are being trampled. That is what happened in Egypt. The people were united for one cause, to topple the powers that be and their oppression. The pressure had swelled in the pipe and the people could bear it no more.
In Jamaica people have been suffering for years, but it seems that they have not reached their breaking point. They continue to put up with political parties that have not protected their rights since independence. They continue to watch as their country is devastated by bad decision after bad decision. They continue to forget that they are a great people and that they deserve better. Everyone is so into themselves that they have no regard for their neighbors.
In my estimation, Jamaica is about 50 years from making a decision to change the course they are on. That may change with the next generation, but for now it looks dismal. The Egyptian people have done what Bob Marley was preaching for years, that we should stand up for our rights. Bob Marley is a product of Jamaica, yet many nations have followed his words, except the country of his birth. Isn't that amazing?
If Jamaicans continue to sit on their hands, and think that change will come, then their hands will eventually be numb and useless. The Egyptians have taken the lead, what will others do now.

"The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get understanding."Proverbs 4:7
Over the years I have come to realize that I lack wisdom in a lot of the things I do. You see I have failed to learn from my numerous mistakes along life's journey. When I speak of wisdom, I am referring to the wisdom from God. Let's see how James 3:17 describes this wisdom, "but the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy."
When I examine my life carefully I now recognize that the wisdom I should have is lacking indeed when compared to what God requires. Am I pure in heart? Am I gentle? Am I reasonable? Am I full of mercy and good fruits? Am I unwavering? And without hypocrisy? Certainly not. I may be doing well in some areas, but am I doing well in all these areas.
It seems that due to my lack of wisdom I fall short in so many ways. I need to change my relationship with others and with God. My heart needs to be pure and not covered by shadows of sorrow. The things I do need to reflect this attitude. When I interact with others I need to season my words with salt. My tone and body language often do not reflect the way a Christian should respond. Though I try to maintain my composure in a lot of situations, I often loose my cool when frustration mounts.
Its funny that I often criticize people about hypocrisy, but I fall into that trap a lot of times. The fact is, before I make judgement I need to check myself first. Wisdom has thought me to change my outlook on hypocrisy. God expects me to not be a hypocrite.
As my gray hairs increase and I grasp for wisdom, I need to aspire to reach the wisdom that God expects of me. My whole perspective on my life needs to be shifted to a place of understanding the will of God in my life. My walk with God has to be focused on letting go of the past and reaching forward to his purpose.

And I saw that wisdom excels folly as light excels darkness.Ecclesiastes 2:13
A friend of mine joked today about things in their life going from bad to "worserer". It seems that in our lives we go through different stages. At one point we are in bliss then another time we are covered in disappointment. It's in these low times that we have to maintain our faith and to forget what the dark one fills our minds with.
A song we normally sing at church is 'God has not promised'. Here are a few lines from the song:
God has not promised
Skies always blue,
Flower-strewn pathways
All our lives thro’;
God has not promised
Sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow,
Peace without pain.
This song describes the human experience throughout this life. One thing that is sure is that in all things God is with us. Our faith is always being tested and we have to be strong when the hard times come. Some of us go through more sorrow than others as the devil is constantly trying to infiltrate our relationship with God.
I have learnt over time that the more the devil tries to bring me down, the more God lifts me up. Sometimes sadness bears me down, but that is when I fall on my knees in prayer to God. He is always listening to my cry, even when others turn their back on me.
I am encouraged by his words to trust in him in all things, not some things, all things. Philippians 3:41 encourages us this way, "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." The bible is absolute when it says 'all things'.
When we wake tomorrow, let us put on a smile even though things in our lives are not what we want them to be. The dark clouds won't always be with us, because God will lighten our steps.
2011: A cracking year ahead for Jamaica's athletics....
Man of the century, Usain Bolt will no doubt be in the spotlight this year. The 13th World Championship in Athletics kicks on August 27, 2011 in Osaka. This will be the highlight for the year in athletics and all the major players will be on show.
Usain Bolt will be seeking to retain his 100 and 200 meters titles, and may even be looking to again erase the world records in both events. He will be strongly tested by Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell in the 100 meters. Other contenders in this race will be Jamaica's Nester Cater and Yohan Blake, who ran consistently under the 10 second mark in 2010. In the 200 meters, Tyson Gay will again be a threat to Bolt, but will find it hard to beat Bolt if he cannot run below 19.20. In the 4X100 men, Jamaica will present one of the strongest relay teams in history. With an abundance of choices for the relay, Jamaica could likely shatter the world record in this event again.
Jermaine Gonzales will also be a force to be reckoned with in the 400 meters. Jeremy Wariner of the US will be his main competitor, as he had the best of him in 2010.
In the women's event, the Jamaica trio of Shelly-Ann Fraser, Kerry-Ann Stewart and Sherone Simpson will be dominant in the 100 and 200 meters. They will be up against the likes of Carmelita Jeter and Allyson Felix.
In the coming weeks I will look at some other events and Jamaica's prospects.
US jobless rate fell from 9.4% in December to 9% in January, signalling a turn in the US economy. Employers added an additional 36,000 workers, which was affected by winter storms, as some hiring slowed. This is the lowest rate in 21 months.

The accident in Clarendon yesterday underscores the madness on Jamaican roads daily. My condolescenes go out to the family that lost their loved ones.
When I visited Jamaica recently I observed an increased police presence on the roads, in a bid to reduce crime and road accidents. However, this latest accident on the Bustamante Highway indicates that there is still a lot more to be done to reduce accidents in Jamaica. Last year 377 persons perished on Jamaican roads, that’s an average of around 1 a day. This is absolutely crazy.
In reading the Jamaica Gleaner today, the same story unfolds. The police telling drivers to drive cautiously seem like a cliché. My opinion is that the laws need to be changed regarding road offences.
For example, other countries have introduced laws against talking on cell phones while driving, and Jamaica is yet to do this. It is ridiculous to see people talking on their phones while driving, increasing their risk of potential accidents.
I continue to maintain that the speed on public passenger vehicles like buses, taxis should have their speedometer reduced to no more than 80 km/h. I also believe that the same should be enforced for large trucks. These taxis for instance have become a lawless force creating numerous accidents due to careless and reckless driving.
The fines should also be increased for speeding and the breaking of road rules. Some people may believe the fines are high, but compared to other countries they are very low.
I believe that there should be two classes of license in Jamaica. One license for driving within towns and minor roads and another license for driving on highways. In Canada they have taken this approach. To drive on a highway you are required to do another road exam. This approach will ensure that persons are properly trained before they are allowed to drive on highways.
Another suggestion I would like to make is that we should start educating students from an early age about road use. I know currently they teach the basics, but I believe that they should look at a broader approach to road education. In fact, I believe that before a license is issued that each driver should watch a video showing the dangers of careless and reckless driving.
Jamaica is losing too many people because of road accidents and the Government needs to take action now. The people also have a responsibility to warn their family and friends who continue to break the road rules to cease and desist from such behavior.
I will
I will be there for you,
even when words no longer exist,
my heart will still beat with yours,
In sorrow and gloom,
my thoughts for you will not be buried in a tomb,
and when the rainfall comes,
the images of your love will not be washed away,
I will never stop praying for you,
even when my knees are sore,
and the devil bears me down,
I will forever lift your name on high to God,
I will not be like friends of old,
who trampled you underfoot,
my friendship with you will be honest and real,
I will not be hurt,
when you speak the truth,
I will take it with my head held high,
my ego will not absorb my objectivity,
I will not allow you to suffer,
when hard times come,
I will use whatever God has given me to your aid,
and when the day is over,
I will praise his holy name......

President Hosni Mubarak
Egypt Erupts....
President Hosni Mubarak is still standing his ground, and insists that he will not resign until September. This has led to mounting protests by those for and against Mubarak. There is widespread looting and burning of building, cars and whatever the protesters can get their hands on. There have also been reports of deaths, although the figures are not clear or accurate.
The predicted rise in oil due to the crisis by many experts has not materialized. Oil has stayed around $89/barrel. Oil is currently trading at $88.81/barrel.
We will continue to monitor the situation in Egypt...

There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor? James 4:12
Christians nowadays have fallen into the habit of judging each other. But is it okay to judge? Romans 2:1 tells us this, "therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things." Can you judge someone and be doing the same thing that you are accusing them of? Certainly not. Roman 2:1 tells us that you condemn your self if you practice such things.
There is only one judge, Almighty God, and he is standing at the door watching us. We are warned in James 5:9 that, "do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door." You see human beings since the fall of man have always been against each other. Even in the church, brothers fights against brothers and sisters against sisters. What is the reward of such things? Who wins such battles? Only the devil is the winner, he is smiling and happy when we fall to unrighteousness.
1 Peter 4:5 tells us that all men will have to give an account to the one who judges, God in heaven. Let's heed the warning in Matthew 7:2, "for in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." We have to be very careful how we judge others, God is measuring us with the same measurement. I have often fallen into the trap of judging others, but when I look at my own life, who am I to judge anyone? I am not perfect, yet the bible says I must strive to be perfect.
Some religious group like to judge people by what they eat. They say you can't eat this meat or that meat, or must celebrate this thing or that thing. The bible clearly shows me in Colossians 2:16, "therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ." If I don't see it in the bible then I won't accept it. I won't be fooled by the words of man. If God does not decree it in his word then I will never follow it.
There are instances that we must judge one another though. If you see a brother or sister doing acts against God you must be their judge in guiding them to the truth. The manner in which we do encourage should be gently. That is our purpose to bear one another's burdens. We all have our weaknesses and at time we need encouragement from each other.
However, the ultimate judge is God, and there is no where in this universe for us to hide from him.
