On my mind in a day, month, year.....

When sorrow stirs deep within,
the anger,
the rage,
sweeps the feet like a storm in agony,
the tears that flow,
burst away the walls of hope,
drifting and lost,
clinging to find peace,
you grasp for pity,
wrestling with a war torn heart,
the battle for life,
surrender reads in your eyes,
the world seems on fire,
staring at the heavens,
you proclaim,
'Lord take my life, what purpose do I serve?".
the mind shredded from thoughts of grief,
you tremble inside,
stirred by buried emotions,
which way to go?
what lies ahead?
God point the way...

Oil Blimp....

Oil is slowing moving towards $90. The latest price of oil as at this writing was $86. It is expected to return to over $100 a barrel before year end. This is good news for some but bad news for others. Remember those increases in oil which equals higher fuel costs, which in terms equals a rise in prices of all goods and commodities. If you thought the recession was over, well let's just say it ain't over yet...

The Recession and the Fast food Market
by Dayne Anderson BSC, MBA, RFC

Over the last two and a half years, the recession has wreaked havoc on the day to day lives of everyone. The food industry is one of those one of those industries that have been affected by the recession. The fact of the matter is that people have to eat, but the quality of what people eat is determined by the price. In the times of a recession the earning ability is compromised as people lose their jobs or their income level is reduced as employer’s face the dilemma of laying off staff or cutting wages.
During these trying times people are unable to eat a balanced meal as the cost of things like vegetables, fruits and other healthy commodities are out of reach. We saw that when the price of oil spiked to over $100 that this resulted in the cost of transportation and other factors of production impacting the delivery of food to our supermarket shelves. In most cases when the cost of production increases, then the price is passed on to the customer.
The result of the average income earner being unable to afford a proper and healthy meal, results in these individuals being forced to turn to the low cost allure of fast foods. But is this really the reality? Or is it just an illusion created by those who oppose fast foods companies? If we examine the performance of some of four of these giant fast food companies over a five year period the picture becomes clearer.

McDonald’s
The McDonald’s Corporation is by far one of the largest fast food Companies in the world. Its stock price has moved from around $32.00 in 2005 to approximately $67.00[see chart below]
According to a report on March 8, 2010, McDonald’s global comparable sales increased by 4.8%. Its performance breakdown by segment was as follows:

  • US sales were up 0.6%
  •  Europe was up 5.4%
  •  Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa were up by 10.5%

This follows up on its fourth quarter profits for 2009 of $1.2 billion dollars.
It is estimated that on average, each day 60 million people go to McDonald’s, which accounts for more than $2 million more than a year ago.

Burger King Holdings
Burger King has been chief competitor of McDonald’s in the burger market, has seen a less than favorable share price. Over a five year period its stock price moved from $18.00 to its present value of $20.69.  Its second quarter profit 2010 climbed 13% year-over-year to $50.2 on the launch on its “Value Menu”.
Burger King has over 12,000 restaurants in 50 states and is in 73 countries.

Yum! Brands
The Yum! Brands which include Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC fast food chains. It had a net income of $1.083 billion at the end of 2009. It is rated as the world’s largest restaurant company with over 36,000 locations worldwide.
Its famous KFC brand is the flagship of the company, with over 12 million customers served daily in 109 countries worldwide. It has over 5,200 restaurants in the US and more than 15,000 units worldwide.

Its share value has moved up steady over a five year period. Its value fell sharply near the end of 2008, but has risen to $38.15 year to date.
As is evidenced by looking at four of the top fast food companies in the world, the demand for fast food continues to exceed expectations. There seems to be a direct correlation to hard times and fast foods. People are drawn to the price of the meals offered by these companies.
It should be noted that these companies have put their ‘ears to the ground’ and are listening. They have all attempted to put healthier meal offerings on their menu. With the devastating recession and the changing lifestyle of people worldwide, the demand for their fast food outlets will continue to rise. It is cheaper to buy a meal from one of these companies than to cook or eat at a fancy restaurant. Every day they offer appealing deals to grab the pocket of its existing customers and luring new ones who just cannot afford to do otherwise.
In simple economic terms, the more the demand, the greater the supply will have to increase. Thus, with the recession biting, the demand exists for cheaper foods, which means that the fast food companies will prevail.

Lessons from today.....

Many persons live their lives as though they have control over their destiny. They do whatever it is that pleases them at the moment. They don't even consider God in any of their actions. For them today is just another day, they have no doubt that tomorrow is there for them. They believe that youth will lead to old age, so being young is a time to have fun and to live without restrictions.

The sad reality though is that today is just today. We dare not say that we shall see tomorrow, unless we think we are God. God is the only one that knows our future. It begs to reason that if God is the only one that knows our future, then we should connect to God. But how can we connect to God? We connect to God when we follow his commands. As Christians we have signed a bond between us and God. However, many people today think that by just signing a bond with God that is enough. This bond we signed was sealed with his blood, he had to die on the cross for this bond to be a reality. The sacrifice that was made for us, is the only reason why we have today. It is the only reason that we have hope when we wake in the morning. Can you imagine a day without hope? Can you imagine waking up and not knowing what comes after death?

When I was in the world, I would often feel an emptiness come upon me. Even at times when I would be partying, a shadow of aloneness would cover me. It was as if I was all alone, even though I knew I had my friends and family, it just was not enough. I used to always say to people, "I came from my mother alone and I will go back that way." The truth be told, my heart was being pricked for years before God came into view clearly. The fact is we do come into this world alone, but when God finds us we are no longer alone. We have the hope to live with him forever in heaven.

For that reason, today is always brighter in my eyes. I know that even if my life departs, God is waiting for me , and he will shield me from darkness. Since coming into contact with the blood of Jesus, my life has changed so much. Yes at times I do commit sin, but his words teach me that I can fall on my knees and beg for forgiveness and he will hear me because I am his child. It is a comfort that I wish that everyone could feel today. You would not completely stop thinking about tomorrow, but you would start a journey that would cleanse you from doubt, and allow you to focus on today, and to let God lead your path. He is able and willing to hear our cries, his Son intercedes for us. Our God is truly and awesome God...

On my mind in a minute, hour, day...

Tis this life we live,
how it overshadows reality,
why do we even exist?
why does God spare us?
do we ever consider our purpose?
or do we just float along like a leaf in the wind,

We are but flakes in a snow fall,
to be melted and then to wash away,
how can we ever understand creation,
when we can't even agree on above,

We walk not by seeing,
but by believing the words of man,
our faith has been drained from us,
we are but empty bodies,
awaiting the grave,

When shall we submit to him?
when shall honesty be poured from our souls?
when will glory and honor cross our cheeks?
God is not asleep,
his words do not betray his love,

The time is now to arise,
the sunset has not crossed the horizon,
the darkness is still knocking on the door,
hold on to the light of hope...

On my mind in an day, hour, minute...

If I could give my life for something,
it would be for the glory of God,
how he has taken my sorrows and buried them in joy,
his love for me is without end,

When I gaze at sadness,
the image of his sacrifice I see in the distance,
my burdens no longer seem relevant,
as I watch his blood drip,
and I hear his painful cries,
my pulse races in my veins,
I wonder why he has considered me worthy,
to give up all for me,

Today I will think differently,
my mind shall be focussed on him,
the world is only a staircase,
but heaven is the doorway to my salvation,
he waits for me there,
he longs to see me,
he longs to hear my voice in hymns,
my God,
thank you,
thank you so much,
your love makes me rise again....

Tiger back with a mighty roar..

Perfectly placed
Tiger roaring through the trees

Having set the record for the largest cable audience in history to watch a golf tournament, Tiger Woods now sets his sights on winning the Masters. Amidst the cloud of unfaithfulness, Tiger has shown guts in scoring -6 today. This puts him in pole position going into the next two days.

It is clear that Woods is where he wants to be, playing golf again. Whether his marriage withstands the turmoil that has taken place is neither here nor there. Woods has stated that he has apologized to his wife several times, and even went to rehab for his sexual addiction problem as they call it.

For the next two days I will be watching Tiger play golf, as he is the greatest golfer to ever play the game. He makes the crowds come out, he brings the money to the sport, simply awesome...

Lessons from Supermarket shopping....

Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body. 1 Cor. 6:13
Today I went shopping at the supermarket. A ritual I do once a week in an effort to bring food home to my family. For me its now routine, I have a list, I get in and then I am out in no time. But its funny how I am able to embrace the need for physical food but the spiritual food sometimes is neglected. You see the supermarket is filled with food for the body, aisle after aisle you can find what you want to put into your body. There are so many choices that at times you even get confused, trying to find the cheapest and the most healthy foods to eat.

Is our spiritual supermarket any different? Don't we have many choices to select the right food for our soul? There is food for the immature and mature in faith. Do we shop around trying to find out what foods we are the best? Do we check the cost of the foods we partake of? Or are we just picking up things as we go along without considering the consequences to our spiritual health?

The bibles teaches us that we must graduate from immature food unto mature food if we are to discern righteousness. Lets look at Hebrews 5:13-14, "For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil." Here we are taught that we must seek to move from being milk drinkers to solid foods. Are we still sucking on the same milk from the time that we were baptized? Have we now been able to distinguish what is evil? When we were new born Christians the milk was supposed to help us grow unto salvation, not for us to keep drinking when we are supposed to be mature. Let's read what the bible says, "like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord."

You see, when we fill our carts towards salvation we must be putting in spiritual foods that grow us. To grow we must embrace God's word, diligently studying it and putting it into practice. Even babies are at some point weened from their mother's breast unto solid food. We too must ween ourselves from  immaturity unto obedience to God's righteousness. If we have been members of God's church for years, we must be reaching out to others and teaching them God's word, we are commanded to do that.

The aisles are full of many foods, but let us choose to fill our carts with spiritual foods daily.

Obama in danger???

Read what a White Reporter wrote in a Georgia Newspaper (YESS)

Andrew M. Manis is associate professor of history at Macon State College
in Georgia and wrote this for an editorial in the Macon Telegraph.

Andrew M. Manis:
When Are WE Going to Get Over It?

For much of the last forty years, ever since America "fixed" its race problem in the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts, we white people have been impatient with African Americans who continued to blame race for their difficulties. Often we have heard whites ask, "When are African Americans finally going to get over it?
Now I want to ask: < br>"When are we White Americans going to get over our ridiculous obsession with skin color?
Recent reports that "Election Spurs Hundreds' of Race Threats, Crimes" should frighten and infuriate every one of us. Having grown up in "Bombingham," Alabama in the 1960s, I remember overhearing an avalanche of comments about what many white classmates and their parents wanted to do to John and Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King.
Eventually, as you may recall, in all three cases, someone decided to do more than "
talk the talk."

Since our recent presidential election, to our eternal shame we are once again hearing the same reprehensible talk I remember from my boyhood.

We white people have controlled political life in the disunited colonies and United States for some 400 years on this continent.
Conservative whites have been in power 28 of the last 40 years. Eve n during the eight Clinton years, conservatives in Congress blocked most of his agenda and pulled him to the right. Yet never in that period did I read any headlines suggesting that anyone was calling for the assassinations of presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan, or either of the Bushes. Criticize them, yes.
Call for their impeachment, perhaps. But there were no bounties on their heads. And even when someone did try to kill Ronald Reagan, the perpetrator was non-political mental case who wanted merely to impress Jody Foster.

But elect a liberal who happens to be
Black and we're back in the sixties again. At this point in our history, we should be proud that we've proven what conservatives are always saying -- that in America anything is possible,EVEN electing a black man as president.
But instead we now hear that school children from Maine to California are talking abo ut wanting to "
assassinate Obama."
Fighting the urge to throw up, I can only ask, "
How long?"
How long before we white people realize we can't make our nation, much less the whole world, look like us?
How long until we white people can - once and for all - get over this hell-conceived preoccupation with skin color?
How long until we white people get over the demonic conviction that white skin makes us superior?
How long before we white people get over our bitter resentments about being demoted to the status of equality with non-whites?

How long before we get over our expectations that we should be at the head of the line merely because of our white skin?
How long until we white people end our silence and call out our peers when they share the latest racist jokes in the privacy of our white-only conversations?

I believe in free speech, bu t how long until we white people start making racist loudmouths as socially uncomfortable as we do flag burners?
How long until we white people will stop insisting that blacks exercise personal responsibility, build strong families, educate themselves enough to edit the Harvard Law Review, and work hard enough to become President of the United States, only to threaten to assassinate them when they do?

How long before we start "living out the true meaning" of our creeds, both civil and religious, that all men and women are created equal and that "
redand yellowblack and white" all are precious in God's sight?
Until this past
November 4, I didn't believe this country would ever elect an African American to the presidency. I still don't believe I'll live long enough to see us white people get over our racism problem.

But here's my
three-point plan

First, everyday that Barack Obama lives in the White House that Black Slaves Built, I'm going to pray that God (and the Secret Service) will protect him and his family from us white people.
Second
, I'm going to report to the FBI any white person I overhear saying, in seriousness or in jest, anything of a threatening nature about President Obama.

Third, I'm going to pray to live long enough to see America surpri se the world once again, when white people can "in spirit and in truth" sing of our damnable color prejudice,

  "
We HAVE overcome."
**************************************
It takes a
Village to protect our President!!!

ROONEY INJURED

Arsenal's Fabergas was also injured in his teams 2-2 draw with Barcelona. He suffered a broken bone in his leg, after taking a penalty kick. He will be out for the rest of the season. He will definitely miss the World Cup.

Lessons from things in this world...

"If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you." John 15:19

The world and all its pleasures daily surround us, pulling and dragging us into its web. It is easy to be caught up in the glamor of the things of this world. But when you cross over the swamp of this world, the life on the other side is paradise. On this side there is joy and happiness knowing that you are God's child shielded and protected by his love.

Even with the hope of eternity with God and the love that he has thought us by his word, Christians, like Lot's wife are tempted to look back into the world. Somehow there is something that calls them to return to the lusts of the world. However, we are warned in 1 John 2:15 about loving this world, it reads, "do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him."
We cannot expect to love God if we are still in a love affair with this world and its pleasures.
He states even harsher words in James 4:4, "You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God." I love how God's word is precise and clear, not compromising or apologetic, we are enemies of God when we stray to the world.

Let's not fool ourselves or pretend to be who we are not. As Christians we have been tested and tried, and in some point in our journey to know what God expects of us we have dared to peer through the corner of our eyes at the pleasures of the world. We may even have tasted some of the spoils of sin presented at our feet, but God is not pleased with us when we venture from the teachings of his word to be with the devil. We cannot afford to be the enemy of God or who will we turn to on judgment day? Who will save our souls from damnation.

You see the things of the world are not of God. Let's examine what 1 john 2:16 states, "for all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world." Everything that we often look to do and partake in is not of God, but is of the world.

We are truly pulled from the world when we surrender to God. Let's look at God word for the answer, in 1 John 5:4, we are told that, "for whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world-- our faith." We are free from the world when we become God's child, but we must overcome the world first. If we have faith in him then we have the victory over this world.

We must change our outlook, putting the world behind us and looking beyond the clouds where God lives.
