My father...

He never gives up on me,
even when I lose hope in life,
in times when despair would appear,
he would speak words of wisdom,

He never failed to provide for his family,
even when he had holes in his shoe,
he would sacrifice it all to see them through,

When others would do wrong to get ahead,
he planted integrity in our hearts,
making sure we walked the right path,
he would never curse or swear,
but taught the principles of God,

He loved us equally as children,
making sure we could be independent,
he showed us how to make ends meet,

My father,
you are special,
you are like no other man I've met,
your courage and hard work,
has molded me,
and made me a proud man,
you taught me that there are no limits to me,

My father,
may I always hear your words,
and follow your foot prints,
you are a gift from God,
may you walk with him now,
knowing that you are his child too....

Lewis Hamilton storms to the top of F1 with win in Montreal...

Lewis Hamilton

Many people were writing off Lewis Hamilton in the early stages of the Formula 1 Championship, due to the domination of the Red Bull team. But after two impressive wins, one in Turkey and the next in Canada, Hamilton is now on top of the driver championship standing, 3 points clear of his McLaren-Mercedes teammate Jenson Button. Though the season is still young, with 11 more races to go, he has put himself in pole position to win back to back championships. However, it won't be easy by any stretch of the imagination to do so, with this year's championship being one of the most competitive in recent years.

Hamilton we wish you all the best, you focus and discipline will see you through...

Shocks Results in World Cup games today....

Well I am not sure I can predict the results in this year's World Cup as in previous years. Teams are constantly surprising me with contrasting results. Today I expected Ghana to dismantle Australia, but even with ten men the Aussie were able to hold on for a 1-1 draw, impressive. Then the shock of the day, Cameroon was sent packing from the World Cup with their 2-1 loss to Denmark, wow. The other result of the day was not too shocking, where the Netherlands beat Japan 1-0. What is clear from the World Cup this year is that no team is guaranteed a win based on their name, everyone must be taken seriously. The team that underestimates their opponents will definitely pay dearly for their overzealous behavior.

For me though, its been great fun to watch the David vs Goliath sagas unfold...

World Cup shocks continue....

The so-called big teams at the World Cup are finding the going rough in the early rounds. Spain, Germany and England have all been brought down to earth by their recent results. Spain were stunned by the Swiss 1-0 earlier in the week. But the shock of the week was yesterday when Germany was beaten by Serbia 1-0, and then later in the day England were held to a 0-0 draw by Algeria.

Germany and Spain can still make it out of their group, but it will be tough going. Whereas England face a must win situation in their final game. The World Cup this year has proven to be one of the best. No team can assume that their name will carry them through, it will take hard work. While some teams fixate on the concept that the 'ball' used by FIFA at this World Cup is bad, it should be noted that all teams face the same dilemma. Yes, the ball is one of the worse to be ever used at the World Cup, but we have seen some stunning
goals scored so far.

The matches today may also provide some surprises. The Netherlands face Japan in a Group E top of the table clash, which will provide a clear indication of the worth of the Dutch, one slip and they may join the ranks of the heavily favored teams who have succumbed to the pressure of the World Cup. Ghana face Australia, and they should have take this assignment lightly, yes Germany beat Australia 4-0, but teams bounce back, especially when they know they must win to stay in the tournament. Ghana must enter this game with the same level of discipline and courage that they showed against Serbia.

In the other game of the day, Cameroon meets Denmark. Cameroon must win if they are to stay in contention. Both teams lost their opening games, and know that only a win will be good enough at this point.

My predictions:

Netherlands vs Japan 1-1
Ghana vs Australia 2-0
Cameroon vs Denmark 2-1

Changing Winds

The winds have shifted,
the storm has turned,
the sun peeps out,
the water is drying,
normality seems near,

The changing winds of life,
a whisper in the shadows,
a kind and loving act,
there is still hope in this world,
evil still has an enemy,
God is with us,

The changing winds blow,
carrying away the sins of humankind,
the stain of sorrow,
is wiped in the sleeve of joy,
there is happiness within reach,

The changing winds bring comfort,
cooling down anger and pain,
the scorch of arid days are left in the oasis of forgiveness,
God's plan has rescued the lost,

The changing winds lifts our souls.....

Sports blimp....

It been such a hectic time, I have not even gotten around to writing about the groups or the teams. It seems that every day something happens with a team that changes your outlook of their expected performance. Take for instance the injuries to Drogba, Nani, Ferdinand, no one expected their teams to be weakened.

With the kick off of the World Cup today, many may be shocked with the results, with hosts South Africa drawing with Mexico 1-1, and even more shocking France being held by Uruguay 0-0. Both matches produced good all round football, but lack the quality that one expects at this level. All in all, this may Group A a very interesting group going into the next matches, as any teams that slips will likely be going home early.

The big match up tomorrow will be a toss up between the Argentina vs Nigeria game and the England vs USA game. For me, the England vs USA match should produce attacking football, and we should see at least three goals in that match. Argentina will have their hands full against an aggressive Nigerian team. The FIFA footballer of the year, Lionel Messi will have to be contained if Nigeria are to have any hope of a draw, as I don't expect them to win this one.

My predictions for tomorrow's games: Greece vs North Korea - 0-2
                                                          Argentina vs Nigeria - 2-1
                                                          England vs USA - 1-0

It should be a great day of football.....
