The under 17 World Cup started yesterday and its looks like it is going to be a feast of football. Four matches were played, with two stunning results. The game of the day was the France versus Argentina match. The French team put on a football clinic disposing of their opponents by a scoreline of 3-0. The next big result was the Congo versus Netherlands game, where Congo used their one touch skills to dismantle the Dutch, beating them by 1-0. We all know the strength of the African teams at this level and they did not disappoint. I will be watching this team keenly as the tournament progresses.

The junior Reggae Boyz also bowed into action against Japan. In a dull affair the Boyz were beaten by 1-0. The Boyz played a laid by game and never seemed like they wanted to score, even though they hit the post in the first half. They were caught playing back the ball too many times when they had forward passes. I am a bit disappointed by this team, as I thought their play up to this point was better. I believe that the Brazilian philosophy has taken a toil on the natural skills of these youngsters. When there is open space they seem timid and more interested in passing around the ball instead of taking on players and taking shots. The Boyz now face an uphill task, as they will have to face Argentina and France in their upcoming games. It is unfortunate that they did not take advantage of Argentina losing. Now Argentina must win, which will make it harder for Jamaica. I do believe they have the firepower to beat Argentina, but this is a major setback.

The must see games tomorrow are:
US versus Czech Republic
Rwanda versus England
Uruguay versus Canada

My predictions are as follows:
US 2 Czech 0
Rwanda 1 England 1
Uruguay 1 Canada 2

Well my friends I know its only the under 17 World Cup, but this is the foundation for the great stars of the future. There is great football on display, check it out.
