Have we closed our eyes expecting to see,
concealing the truth of our ways,
have we decided to live a lie,
we talk a lot of milk and honey,
but our actions are more like mud and tar,

do we fool ourselves when we look in the mirror,
pretending that the image we see is beautiful,
putting on life's make up to hide our flaws,
have we taken some time to closely explain the image we superimpose on others,
are we just selfish in our ways,
thinking that by hiding no one will see,

have we even considered the reward for our deceit,
is God really in our corner as we preach,
do we teach lies to impress,
do we think corruption in our hearts,
wondering if by our morals we will reap heaven,

a reality check is what we need,
we don't even know who we are,
we follow the shadow of the dark one,
hoping that we'll find the light,
we need to stop fooling ourselves,
and put God first.....
