Those times gone,
peeled away to reveal ones heart,
brings light to the darkness of those moments,
if things were different,
we would have been together,

If our hearts had been as one,
our love would have flowed over,
flooding even those you lost faith in hope,

We would have taken the time to share,
to open up in words,
rather than to ignore our feelings,
the regrets that will haunt us through this life,
would be sweet memories of a different time,
we wouldn't dream of being together,
if things were different,

You would have seen the tears in my eyes,
and wondered why I couldn't stare at you anymore as a friend,
the touch of my hand on your shoulder,
would explain my thoughts,
the words that I penned would become clear,
if things were different,

The whirlwind of fear has faded,
the times when I didn't care to live,
the times when I wondered if you were safe,
knowing that you had followed your doubts of me,
and had taken a different path,
if things were different,

I would tell you that I love you.......
